Ingredients:
2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
¾ cup unsweetened apple juice
1 tsp cinnamon
½ cup brown sugar
5 slices whole wheat bread
1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375ºF degrees.

Cut the apples into thin slices and place them in a large bowl. Drizzle with lemon juice and mix well. Stack the bread slices and cut into thin strips. Then cut into very small cubes.

In a separate small bowl, combine cinnamon with the brown sugar.

Grease an 8” by 8” baking dish. Place one third of the apple slices on the bottom of the dish. Sprinkle with one third of the sugar/cinnamon mixture and sprinkle with one third of the bread cubes. Repeat this procedure until all ingredients are used up. Pour the apple juice over the top and place in the oven. Bake for 40 minutes until dessert is bubbly.
